King informed about quiting palace a week ago, says CP Gajurel
KATHMANDU, April 30 - At a time when different remarks have been coming from CPN-Maoist leaders regarding the king’s ousting, a senior Maoist leader Wednesday claimed that King Gyanendra was asked to leave the Narayanhiti Palace a week ago.
Speaking at a face-to-face programme organised in the capital today, senior Maoist leader CP Gajurel stated that the King was informed through his relatives.
He said that the Maoists will move ahead through understanding with other parties.
Gajurel, who recently attended the Indo-Nepal convention at Patna in India, also expressed hope that the convention would help further extend the relationship between the two countries. He said that the Indian government was positive on the issue of reviewing the 1950 treaty and was eager to extend its help to develop the country’s economic sector.
The Maoist leader claimed that the next government formed under the Maoist leadership will add a new dimension to the country’s relationship with other countries.
He also added that his party was against the idea of making amendments in the interim constitution.
A few days back, Madheshi People’s Rights Forum, which has emerged as the fourth largest party in the Constituent Assembly elections, had floated the proposal for constitutional amendment.
Gajurel claimed that the process of declaring the country a republic would be protracted if amendments were made to the interim constitution.
The political parties seem divided over the leadership of the next government and power-sharing among the major parties after the Nepali political landscape took a new turn after the CA polls with the emergence of the former rebels CPN-Maoists as the largest party..
