Holi in Nepal

Holi is celebrated with great pomp and show in Nepal. Celebrations lasts for a week in which the entire country gets drenched in the coloured water.
Celebrations are of marked importance at Terai and also where Indian community mainly Marwaris have settled. Families and friends get together and celebrate the occasion with a lot of merry making.
All over the streets people can be watched having fun, throwing colours and water-balloons, locally called 'lolas' on each other. Though play of colours takes place on the last day, a ceremonial pole called, 'chir' is installed on the first day. Chir is a bamboo pole fringed with strips of clothes representing good luck charms. As the pole is put up in the street at Basantapur, the festivities and worship commences for the week. At the end of the festivities chir is taken to a bonfire.

A woman' life was saved by her size-D breast implants when she was shot at point blank range with a semi-automatic assault rifle, her doctor said. Lydia Carranza was working in the office of a dentist in Beverly Hills, California when a gunman ran in and opened fire.

He aimed the weapon directly at her heart but one of her silicone implants took the force of the blow, stopping bullet fragments from reaching her vital organs.

Hosts Nepal clinched the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 title after defeating the USA by five wickets on Saturday.But both sides have gained promotion to Division 4 which will be played in Italy in August 2010.The USA made an excellent start to its innings with Steve Massiah (55) and Orlando Baker (49) adding 81 for the second wicket.But from 141-2 it suffered a dramatic collapse and lost its last eight wickets for just 31 runs as Rahul Vishvakarma produced an extraordinary spell of bowling to capture 7-15.
